The Health Ministries Department serves as a resource for information and counsel on health and temperance affairs and advises the Church and its departments and related agencies on health and/or temperance related policies and programs. The Health department promotes a healthful lifestyle among church members through literature, programs and Sabbath services, and provides publications, services and programs to aid outreach to the world concerning the physical, mental and soul-destroying effects of tobacco, alcohol and other substances.
In the Health Department, we aim to cater for body, mind and soul; we endeavour to cultivate the health of the whole person. As we educate people in this area, we hope they will share and spread this knowledge, encouraging others to a healthier a lifestyle.
SEC Health Ministries
The Health Ministry is a vital part of the overall ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God” (I Cor. 10:31). Health ministry is the gospel of Christ illustrated, the message of God practised. Without it, the gospel witness is muted; it is merely a theory, an idea.
The most important objective of health ministry is to help men and women reach their full potential, mentally, spiritually and physically. To reach full potential, health principles must be practiced.
The closer we follow sound health principles, the better our health is likely to be. At Watford Town church, we aim to promote public health education, as a part of responsible Christian living.
